于是,我开始在上海和敦煌之间往返、寻找。很快我了解到,石窟中原有的许多敦煌音乐手稿散落在世界各地,其中大部分收藏在法国、英国和日本的图书馆、博物馆等地。由此,我又去了那些地方,追寻失散的敦煌古谱和古乐器,并开始琢磨如何让它们与今天的世界产生情感的连接。最终,我从众多壁画中选出了六个故事,创作成六幕交响乐《敦煌·慈悲颂》。这些都是我们熟悉的教诲如何做一个良善之人的故事。比如第一幕《菩提树》,小王子用自己的血肉身体去拯救死去的小鸟,领悟了众生平等的道理:“在这个世上,从细小的蚂蚁,到巨大的恐龙,生命都平等。”我把第二幕留给了美丽的九色鹿。传说有一天,九色鹿看到有人落水,明知自己一现身就可能被人类抓去杀了,她还是不顾自身安危地飞奔过去,救下了落水者。这个故事感动我的是九色鹿善良和舍己的大爱,因此我为合唱选用了一句诗:“恩人永远不能背叛,朋友永远不要放弃”。这是做人的主心骨,无论小孩还是大人,谁都不能把它忘记。
